Seven athletes to represent Eswatini at ANOCA Games

MBABANE– Seven athletes have been selected to represent the country during this year’s Association
of National Olympic Committees of Africa (ANOCA) Games in Algeria.This was announced SOCGA President Peter Shongwe during a recent press briefing. Shongwe stated that they would have loved to send a bigger team to the games. “The cost of travel were a major constraint,” he revealed.The local delegation left the country on Sunday by road enroute to OR Tambo Airport in Johannesburg. The flight to Algiers was expected to arrive on Monday.The games will kick off on Wednesday until July 28 and the team is expected back home on July 30.During the team’s send-off, Shongwe indicated the core objective of these games are brotherhood, universality, peace and also the way of life,
environment and health education. Present during the briefing was Swaziland National Sports and Recreation Council
(SNSRC) Business and Development Manager Zama Tsabedze who mentioned that this year has been declared the year of the youth and confirmed that a number of youth activities have been planned to take place as the year progresses.
Tsabedze also urged the team to make the country proud as they have fun while creating friendships. The delegation that left the country includes the seven athletes, three coaches and one chef de mission. They are listed below in their respective categories.
